For a standard three-bedroom single-storey home, a professional exterior repaint typically takes three to five days from start to finish. That includes preparation, priming where needed, and two full coats of paint on all surfaces.

A two-storey home adds time — typically one to two extra days depending on the complexity of access and the amount of surface area involved. Homes with extensive timber work, decorative features, or multiple surface types (render, timber, Colorbond) take longer than simple rendered brick homes.

Single-storey 4-bedroom home: 4–6 days

Interior House Painting Timelines

Interior work is generally faster than exterior because there's no weather dependency and prep is simpler. A full interior repaint of a three-bedroom home — walls, ceilings, doors, and skirtings — typically takes two to four days.

3-bedroom house (full interior): 2–4 days
4-bedroom house (full interior): 3–5 days

What Affects the Timeline

Surface preparation. Prep is often the biggest variable. A house with peeling paint, significant cracks, mould, or chalking will require substantially more time before a brush goes anywhere near it. Rushing prep to hit a tight deadline is how paint jobs fail within a few years.

Number of painters on the job. A single painter working alone takes longer than a two-person team. We factor crew size into our quotes and plan jobs accordingly.
